LockChime(1).wav? Fix your Tesla download filename

The final file on your USB drive must be named LockChime.wav. A browser can add (1), (2) or another suffix when the same filename already exists in Downloads. The website requests the correct name, but cannot override your browser's duplicate-file behaviour.

Rename on a computer

  1. Locate the purchased WAV in Downloads and move it to a separate folder named after the sound.
  2. Show file extensions in your file manager so you can check the complete filename.
  3. Rename the audio to LockChime.wav. Avoid LockChime(1).wav, LockChime.wav.wav or a different extension.
  4. Copy the chosen WAV to the USB drive's top level. Replace the previous lock chime only when you intend to change it.

Rename on an iPhone

In Files, touch and hold the downloaded file and select Rename. Remove any duplicate number and check the full name. See our iPhone USB transfer guide for the next steps.

Keep several purchased sounds

Store each download in its own descriptive folder on your phone or computer, each containing its own LockChime.wav. Copy only the sound you want to use to the USB root. Several files with that identical name cannot coexist in the same folder.

Still not playing?

Renaming an MP3 to .wav does not convert the audio. Use the WAV from your paid download page, then follow the USB, vehicle and locking checklist.
